Top 6 beaches around Kuta, Lombok

Kuta is located in the South of Lombok, Indonesia. It boasts a large variety of incredible beaches with incredible bays, turquise waters, world class waves and tranquile surroundings. There’s a beach for everyone, here are our favourite beaches around Kuta, Lombok.

Kuta

Find a variety of accommodation suitable for every lifestyle and budget in town. Spend your first afternoon swimming in the calm turquoise waters and walk over to the mangroves to say hello to the hundreds of monkeys that come out for sunset.

 

1. Segar

Bike to Segar beach to catch some waves and watch the local kids rip aerials. Climb the small hills around the beach to get a birds eye view of the surrounding areas. Have a refreshing coconut drink from one of the Sasak ladies.

 

2. Tanjung An

Drive a few kilometres west towards Tanjung An to laze on its fine white sand beaches or climb Bukit Merese that offer gorgeous panoramic views of the south coast. If you’re lucky, Mount Rinjani shows her silhouette on a clear day.

 

3. Gerupuk

Bring your favourite surfboard and ask a local fisherman to take you to one of the many spots according to your level: Kidspoint, Don Don, Insides or Outside Right. Check out the skate bowl while waiting for the tide.

 

4. Mawun

Sink your feet into the golden sand of Mawun beach, a perfect crescent shaped bay. The ocean rushes in over the shallow reef on each side of the beach, creating wave after wave that mellows out as it comes closer towards the shoreline.

 

5. Selong Belanak

Enjoy the lush scenery and drive further east for more beach time at Selong Belanak, best for first-time and beginner surfers. Also a cool spot to try various local dishes or spend a whole day just chilling on its fine white sand beach.

 

6. Mawi

Slow down on the long winding road that leads to Mawi. Brave the rough, sometimes muddy paths along rice fields to get barreling waves and stay for the perfect sunsets. Caution: only for the most experienced surfers.
